MISSION: To help the children living in economically depressed areas of Miami-Dade County go to school dressed in uniform, feeling good about themselves and prepared to learn.
PROJECT: Collect gently used school uniform polos from kids in private or public schools. Sew on a generic Miami-Dade County Public School emblem over the existing school logo. Distribute 4-5 repurposed polos, at no expense, to kids attending the Miami-Dade public schools that serve families in economically depressed areas.
KISS CURRENTLY: Founded in 2015, KISS has had five very successful years. In the past five years over 7500 polos have been collected. Approximately 6000 polos have been distributed to kids attending Holmes Elementary School, Frederick Douglass Elementary and Comstock Elementary. Around 1000 polos did not meet KISS's quality control standards so they were given to Cover With Love for distribution in Africa and about 500 polos are ready for distribution in the Summer of 2020. The past two years KISS provided Zanmi Beni Children's Home outside Port Au Prince, Haiti with all of the school uniform shorts and pants for its 64 residents. This was a bonus. KISS never asked for shorts and pants, but we received so many we found a home for them!
KISS'S FUTURE: Expand the distribution to other schools in Miami-Dade County. Recruit more KISS Ambassadors so that KISS may increase the number of KISS Supporting Schools, which are schools that hold polo collection drives for KISS.
